Hi lovely you,
Sinterklaas has officially begun here in the Netherlands…
and our home is bursting with cosy magic again.
Every evening at 6 PM, the three of us gather on the couch:
Evi under a soft blanket, my husband and I with a cup of tea,
and yes — a bowl of “pepernoten” within reach.
The Sinterklaas News Show is on, the candles are glowing,
and it feels warm, nostalgic and magical all at once. ✨
We went to the arrival parade last weekend.
It was beautiful — and overwhelming (for all of us).
Kids feel everything deeply…
and honestly, so do we as parents.
So there we were, Loops headphones on,
breathing in and out,
while Evi’s eyes sparkled so brightly I almost cried.
That’s Sinterklaas for me:
small moments that feel big.
🎁 Why this Dutch holiday means so much to me
It’s full of stories, warmth and excitement.
And since becoming a mother, it feels even richer.
I get to relive the magic through her eyes —
while also protecting our little bubble of calm.
Sometimes that simply means:
a quiet moment on the couch,
a cup of tea,
a few gingerbread bites,
and a sweet Sinterklaas cupcake to make the evening sparkle.
