Dear you,
The calm before the storm—that’s exactly how this time of year always feels to me. You just know: big things are about to happen. In my bakery, everything is in full swing for Halloween, but at home, things are still pretty quiet. We don’t really go all out for Halloween as a family, but for my business, I dive right in. The kitchen fills with little pumpkins, ghosts, and chocolate eyeballs (the ones with that magical filling, you know the ones). All the designs are ready, the photos have been taken, and the orders are already flying in.
But at home? The real excitement doesn’t start until November, when Evy—my six-year-old daughter—and I take part in the Hartkind Bakt charity event. It’s such a special moment every year. Evy gets to open her own pop-up bakery, right here at home. Because, of course, if your mom runs a bakery, you want to bake for a good cause too. And I love encouraging her in that. It’s so wonderful to see her chase her dreams, invite her friends over, and learn that even something small can make a big difference for someone else. So if you’re nearby and in the mood for something sweet, you’re always welcome to drop by!
These weeks are always a bit magical and chaotic. At work, I’m busy preparing for the holidays. Because besides Halloween (which is already this week!), my team and I have created beautiful new designs for Thanksgiving, autumn, Sinterklaas, and of course, Christmas. Everything is now online—from cozy autumn cupcakes to sparkling Christmas cakes and cheerful Sinterklaas treats.
I always get so happy during the festive season. The lights, the Christmas trees, the coziness… and of course, all those delicious treats in festive shapes. My favorite? Cupcakes shaped like Christmas trees—they really do bring magic to the table.
Curious to see the new designs? You’ll find them all on the website. Let me know which one is your favorite—or send me a message if you’d like something custom made.
