Summer has officially begun! The sun is shining, the days are long, and everywhere I look I see reasons to celebrate. But before we all slip into holiday mode, I’m giving Pride Month one last festive boost—because this year, I’ve challenged myself to sell more Pride cupcakes than ever before. This summer, I’m also challenging myself to grow and discover new ways to expand my bakery. My latest adventure is called Bakademy: the online place where I share all my best advice and strategies for running your own baking business—and even my personal recipes. Whether you’re a baking entrepreneur or just love creating a little magic at home, you can now learn my recipes and techniques through easy-to-follow video courses. Watch them whenever and wherever you like, in real time, as if you’re right beside me in the bakery.
For me, the start of summer is always extra special because it’s time to celebrate my relationship. On June 26th, Maarten and I will celebrate our anniversary—this year marks 24 years together, and already 6 years as a family of three. We’ve been together longer than we’ve been apart, starting out as high school sweethearts and somehow never letting go. Every year, we celebrate with cake or cupcakes (of course!). That’s exactly what I believe in: every moment, big or small, deserves to be celebrated. It’s my mission—and the reason I still bake with so much joy every single day. There’s always a reason for cake. I want to bring a little extra magic, joy, and sparkle to life.
