What have you celebrated this week?

Hi you,

I’ve had quite a few things to celebrate this past week — and I’m so curious: what happened in your week that felt worth celebrating?

Sometimes it’s in something very small.

For me, for example, it was being able to cycle on the stationary bike for eight minutes in a row. Honestly, I can do that now.

Or standing on my tiptoes during my birdwatching excursion (do you remember I told you I started a bird recognition course?).

Those may be the kind of moments someone else would easily overlook. But to me, they’re exactly the little signs that make me feel: I’m on my way.

And maybe that’s exactly why celebrating, to me, is never only about the big milestones. I love putting the small moments in the spotlight too. Especially the ones where you can feel that something is shifting.

From a business point of view, the first months of the year were quite tough. I was able to achieve beautiful revenue, but I also had higher costs than I had expected beforehand, largely because of my ski accident, which left me stuck in bed for almost six weeks and unable to get into the bakery myself.

No worries though, my business didn’t immediately get thrown off balance because of it. But that’s exactly why it feels extra special to now be in the middle of April, baking an order of 1,500 cupcakes.

An order like that doesn’t just feel big because of the number. It feels like something to really pause for. That I get to make this again, create again, bake again.

If you know me a little better, you may know that I normally love cycling from the Zaan region to Amsterdam. Not just to get from A to B, but also to clear my head after a workday. A moment to land. A moment to reset. And then come home again.

For now, I’m still driving, and of course that’s practical, but it feels different. More traffic, more noise, more focus. Less room to simply be. So yes, I’m really looking forward to the days when I can get back on my bike. Not because it’s faster, but because it feels like coming home to myself.

Maybe you recognise that too. That celebrating isn’t always in something big or obvious, but in something that may look small to someone else and mean everything to you.

And honestly? I love celebrating those moments with something sweet. Right now, my chocolate chip cupcakes are a real favourite.

So now I’m curious about you. What have you celebrated this week?

And if you have something coming up in the next few weeks that deserves a moment in the spotlight — big or small — my King’s Day collection is ready for you. Because everything is made in small batches, I prepare a limited number of orders each day.

Curious? Take a look at the King’s Day collection with cupcakes, cake pops and cakes.
