Why Life Is Too Beautiful Not to Celebrate (and How You Can Make This Summer Extra Special) ☀️🧁

What a few sizzling summer weeks we’ve had! The days have been long, the sun has been shining bright, and honestly? It’s been quite a challenge at times. Not just in the bakery—where baking on hot days is a sport in itself!—but also at home, where everything revolves around growth, new steps, and little (big) adventures.
My daughter Evy is now getting used to her new class, Year 3. Soon she’ll be sitting at real desks, doing her first assignments, and I see her growing every single day. But she experiences everything so intensely! Sometimes, in the evenings, she comes up with the most beautiful stories or the funniest questions, right at the moment you think: now it’s time to sleep. But processing everything is part of it, and I love seeing her develop like this—even though it sometimes takes a bit of extra energy from all of us 😉
And then her sixth birthday is just around the corner! Right in the middle of the summer holidays, which means: treats at school, her very first kids’ party, and of course, dreaming together about the perfect treat. Ice creams, cakes, cookies—anything goes, everything is possible. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned in all these years as a baker and a mother, it’s this: life is too beautiful and too short not to celebrate.
Whether you have a milestone at school, at home, at work, if you’re pregnant, getting married, or just have a spontaneous reason to put someone in the spotlight—celebrate it. Really. Because it’s the little moments, the unexpected sparks of joy, that make life magical. And believe me: a cupcake makes it even more fun (but of course, celebrating is always allowed without one 😉).
Do you have something to celebrate this summer? Want to go all out with a magical treat, a cake, or are you looking for inspiration for a party? I’d love to help you make it extra special. And… do you want to bake yourself, with the recipes I use for Amsterdam Cupcake Company? You can now! Check out my favorite recipes here and bake them at home.
Please note: I’ll be closed in August for the summer holidays—for the first time in years, because Evy is now of compulsory school age. So if you want to celebrate something in August, make sure to order in time, or jump into the kitchen yourself with my recipes. That way, you can still enjoy a bit of magic from my bakery, even during my holiday.
Life is now. Celebrate it.
With love,
Faryel
